Zen HQ is a sea of pink and white balloons and streamers. It reminds me of my high school prom where the theme was Pink Wonderland. But, this time, I do have a date and I'm not hiding out next to the snacks, hoping no one notices me. There are long tables set up in the middle of the room and—even before I can see it—I smell steak. I feel like I could eat an entire cow smothered in steak sauce. My stomach churns at the thought and I wince.

“My love, are you hungry?” Shane asks. “I can hear you from here.”

There are so many things Shane doesn't know about me. Maybe this is the time to reveal to him I've never skipped a meal in my entire life and my body is not dealing well with starvation. I feel hot and sweaty and a bit nauseous. But, then again, that might have something to do with where we are and what we just did at the beach. I might go from being a blushing bride to a puking bride in less than five minutes.

The entire room cheers when Earl Holiday stands in front of us and declares, “Let's give a hand to our bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Shane Lawson.” I close my eyes and smile as Shane leans over and plants a kiss on my cheek. I don't know about the Mrs. Shane Lawson part but now doesn't seem like a good time to argue.

“More!” someone screams out, and I'm pretty sure I recognize Serena's chirpy voice. As Shane leans over to kiss me again, I grab his face and smash my lips against his, forgetting about everyone in the room, my extreme hunger, and the millions of questions swirling around in my head.

“Whoa,” Shane says when he comes up for air. I smile and squeeze his hand as Earl leads us to the head of the table.

“Where's Nate?” I ask Shane as I stab into a salad and try to pretend it’s calming my hunger. Every bride needs carbs. I look around hoping to see someone holding a bread basket.

“I haven't seen him since the end of the ceremony. Didn't Earl say something about documents being faxed to the Consulate? I bet he's taking care of that.”

I nod and pick the last crouton off my plate. I'd been rationing them but now that I see the kitchen staff coming out with bowls of soup, I quickly pop it into my mouth and enjoy the crunchy saltiness. “He'd better get back soon or he's going to miss the steak.”

“We'll never hear the end of it if he does,” Shane says.

But for the next hour, the seat on Shane's left side stays empty. Maybe Nate fell down and hurt himself and while we're eating this delicious food, he's bleeding in a ditch. When I tell Shane about my theory, he reminds me there are no ditches on the resort.

“Nate can take care of himself. I once saw him fall off a roof and get back up like nothing happened.
